Fuel for the fight: Minnesota Energy Resources supporting area food banks with COVID-19 relief efforts

Minnesota Energy Resources is extending a helping hand during the COVID-19 pandemic by announcing charitable donations to five food banks across Minnesota. The donations will help each organization provide groceries and meal supplies for those affected by the public health emergency.

“Now more than ever, partnering with the communities we serve is critical to help those in need,” said Tom Rice, vice president — Minnesota Energy Resources. “We are honored to do our part to assist individuals and families during this challenging time.”

Minnesota Energy Resources’ donation will be split among the following food banks in its service area:

  • Second Harvest Heartland (central and southwest Minnesota)
  • Second Harvest North Central Food Bank (north central Minnesota)
  • Second Harvest Northern Lakes (northeast Minnesota)
  • Channel One Regional Food Bank (southeast Minnesota)
  • North Country Food Bank (northwest Minnesota)

These donations are part of a special giving initiative that Minnesota Energy Resources’ parent company, WEC Energy Group, is making to assist the customers and communities it serves. In total, WEC Energy Group subsidiaries and charitable foundations, which serve more than 4.5 million customers across four states, are providing more than $2 million to COVID-19 relief efforts.
