Minnesota Energy Resources grants help keep first responders, customers safe
Agencies can apply for up to $2,000 to improve safety
At Minnesota Energy Resources, we focus on safety and reliability. We want to make sure first responders have the training and equipment they need to do the same. That's why Minnesota Energy Resources and its charitable giving organization, the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation, are offering the Rewarding Responders Grant. Emergency response agencies in our service area can apply for up to $2,000 to help make our communities safer. Applications are being accepted now through June 15.
Last year, Minnesota Energy Resources and the WPS Foundation awarded more than $11,000 to nine fire departments throughout Minnesota. The Rewarding Responders Grants helped provide life-saving equipment, including gas monitors, car extrication tools, carbon monoxide detectors and firefighting hoses.
To be eligible, emergency responders must demonstrate the equipment or training they will acquire is part of a well-planned effort to improve public safety. Organizations that received a grant in 2018 are not eligible to receive a grant again this year.
Since 2015, Minnesota Energy Resources and the WPS Foundation have donated more than $43,000 to help first responders improve public safety in Minnesota. For more information and to apply, visit the Minnesota Energy Resources website.
