Minnesota Energy Resources heating system rebates provide incentives to customers who install high efficiency natural gas heating systems, advanced or wi-fi enabled thermostats, appliances or a qualifying hearth product in a home that has been newly constructed. Customers who purchase a new home that participated in the Minnesota Energy Resources Home Energy Excellence program are not eligible for certain rebates under this program. Notes

The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) will be used to verify actual AFUE ratings for heating purposes.

AFUE: Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency

EF: Energy Factor

UEF: Uniform Energy Factor

* Rebate amount is 50% of total improvement cost, up to maximum rebate amount listed above.

Please reference all rebate requirements prior to installation to ensure eligibility.

Thermostat Rebates: Customers cannot get more than one rebate per thermostat.

Notice: Starting June 12, 2017, the Department of Energy(DOE) implemented new energy efficiency standards for water heaters. The old metric was Energy Factor, or EF. The new metric is UEF or Uniform Energy Factor. They are not the same.

Because the UEF metric is new, customers may purchase a water heater that was certified with an EF rating criteria. Models that were rated with EF will be honored in our rebate program through 12/31/2017. After this date, all rebates will be issued based on the AHRI database certification UEF criteria.

After the qualifying system is installed, work with your contractor to complete and submit the new construction rebate application. Funding is limited and can change or end at any time. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The program application must be received within 60 days of installation.

We only honor one rebate per piece of equipment. Therefore, building contractors and home buyers should determine who applies for and receives the rebate.

If you are a nonprofit, new construction organization such as a Community Development Authority, Housing Development Agency or Habitat for Humanity serving the low-income community, you may be eligible for enhanced rebates through low income new construction rebates.
